The Babylon Bee’s Satire is as Much Healing as it is Humor
I’ve been thinking about this quite a bit lately, and finally decided it was time to pen a Thank You to the team at the Babylon Bee for what they have given me the last few years. As you’ll see, it’s more than just a chuckle, satire, or a laugh-out-loud moment, there is some real healing in those headlines.
A Surprise Find During a Confusing Time
When COVID first hit, we were all stuck at home wondering if the world would end. Eventually, I found two internet resources that made those days more tolerable. I mentioned one already in my article about the 3D Botmaker YouTube Channel. The second, was The Babylon Bee, a Christian, conservative, right-leaning satire website that offered articles, headlines, and videos along those same lines. You may have noticed I have a “Bee” RSS feed at the bottom of my home page as well.
The Digital Water Cooler – Sharing What Others Were Thinking
As time went on and my work-from-home arrangement became permanent, The Bee became my digital water cooler, a way to hear, or rather see, what other like-minded people were thinking about the unfolding events of our time, albeit through satire, often sharply edged and biting.
It’s also about the time nearly every single media source was reporting with a decidedly left, progressive slant (I hadn’t found Fox News yet). Craziness that didn’t seem normal to me, was somehow normal and expected by everyone else. I began to feel isolated and out of touch. Just when I thought perhaps that I was just getting old and couldn’t relate anymore, I’d see some pointed satire on The Babylon Bee.
I was able to say to myself, OK, I’m good here…I can see through that satire on The Babylon Bee that I am thinking correctly and those other folks are whacko.
Whether is was masks, transgender nonsense, government spending, or darn near anything else, the satire provide by The Bee helped me stay centered. Interestingly, I had gotten to where I couldn’t stand to read regular news anymore, but would check The Bee daily, if not multiple times per day. Occasionally they would mock something and I wouldn’t understand the reference, so I would go back to “regular” news to fine out what they were referring to.
Satire – A Marriage Saver
If I told you The Babylon Bee saved my marriage, I would only be half-joking. A couple suddenly both working at home changes the marriage dynamic. Without other guys to bounce thoughts off of now and then, the satire of The Bee fulfilled that role for me as well.
Aside from politics, The Babylon Bee pokes fun at religion, marriage, men, women, sports….again, pretty much anything. It’s almost always laugh-out-loud funny, and can sometimes be pretty harsh, as the truth often is. I’ve often muttered the words “that’s just pure genius” to myself reading those headlines.
Comfort From A Surprising Source
It can also be very comforting. Case in point: my wife went through a phase recently where she would talk non-stop while we were in the car. I don’t want to understate the non-stop part either. It was a lot, even for her. She was going through a rough medical patch in life and perhaps felt like she needed to say all the words she had saved up for the next twenty years into a twenty minute car ride.
It wasn’t just frustrating, I felt alone in that I did not want to hurt her feelings, but I had no one to vent to that might even begin to understand. I mean, was I so intolerant that I couldn’t handle my own wife talking to me? What was wrong with me? Or was it her? Was this normal? Could she not see or hear how much she was talking? It was maddening, and I felt terrible and guilty.
Then I found this article by The Babylon Bee, and I was OK. Not only OK, but I felt more compassion for my wife. I realized she was normal, I was normal, and everything was fine.

Checks and Balances With LOL Humor
Every single day, The Babylon Bee pokes fun at various topics. Many have to do with current events, but many do not. If you lean far left…well, you probably aren’t on my site reading, but if you are…perhaps you’ll see some of the madness the lunatic left has been pushing.
If you lean far right, you may get a few checks and balances yourself…the right isn’t perfect either. Either way…every day, you’ll laugh. The Babylon Bee offers satire at its absolute best, and has been almost life-saving to this Baby Boomer with not a lot of outside contact.
