Is The Weather Gospel a Gateway Drug?

The Weather Gospel is the gateway drug to “climate change”. The “threat” of Climate Change has been with us for a while now. Boomer kids learned about “Global Warming”, a phrase made popular in the 80’s and supported by efforts such as Earth Day, the Green Movement, and other sustainability efforts. Of course, a couple of record cold winters dampened their “the earth is melting” party, and forced a name change to Climate Change.

Caring for the place you live, and particularly the place your food source lives, is a good thing, and smart efforts to preserve the earth and its resources should always be observed where sensibly and economically possible. Most sane and rational people have reasonable opinions and expectations about what climate change is, and which things make sense, and which things don’t.

Where things have gone off the rails is with the terms sensible, rational, and economical. Those pushing the climate change agenda are always willing to sacrifice one or more of those traits to push their platform. They aren’t afraid to use fear, death, and disaster as information vehicles in their quest to push climate change. Michael Crichton elaborated on this in his fictional book, State of Fear.

What Is The Weather Gospel?

While we could talk, debate, yell, and scream all day about climate change, the green scam, and what does and doesn’t make sense; my focus today is on what I call the “Weather Gospel”. The Weather Gospel is more than just the deep permeation of weather “knowledge” embedded into society today. It’s the slow, gradual push toward climate change indoctrination.

We’ve had weather apps on our phones for 2 decades now. Dedicated television channels, websites, mobile apps, and even weather podcasts all feed our appetite for all things weather related. Knowing the current weather and/or the short-term forecast is handy, and I appreciate these tools.

The Weather Gospel, however, is when forecasters turn from informing, to proselytizing. That proselytizing can take many forms. At its extreme, it presents a no holds barred approach to weather reporting, directly and unashamedly stating that climate change caused this or that, or perhaps certain repercussions are blamed on climate change, usually with little regard to facts. More traditional, local weather reporting tries stay somewhat clear of going full climate change, because it can be a rather controversial topic.

Besides, most local weather outlets have limited time available, and they want to grab your attention hard and fast. As polarizing as climate change might be, it doesn’t move the nightly ratings in suburbia. No…they need a different tactic. Enter the Weather Gospel.

Not So Subtle Weather Cues

If you’ve read any of my work here before, you’ll know that I’m not a huge proponent of the good old days. I’m perfectly happy with modern conveniences. With that said, back in the day, if a big storm front was about to drop 8-inches of snow on Chicago…it was just that, a snow storm that might cause some travel delays, maybe close the schools, and would likely push east and affect Gary, Indiana and Detroit.

In today’s Weather Gospel mentality however, now…that snowstorm is suddenly a “major winter event affecting millions of Americans across the entire northern half of the United States!

Look..if this big snowstorm hits in May, or maybe September…then fine…throw the word late or early into that description and run with it. Maybe add unseasonal and go ahead and make a reasonably big deal out of it.

However, don’t give me that over-the-top, crazy, dramatic Weather Gospel crap in January! It’s called W I N T E R…and shockingly, it comes every single year. “Millions” of Americans go through winter every year, and are impacted when it snows, rains, ices over, melts, or whatever…and they have been for a couple of hundred years. It’s called WINTER!!

This, my friends, is the Weather Gospel. It happens in the summer too of course…unless an “unseasonable cool front” comes through and skews their narrative. When the mercury climbs to the top again however, “summer” turns into a deadly heat wave or dangerous high temperatures impacting millions. Give me a break.

What started this semi-rant is staring at one of my Alexa devices. Right now it is a beautiful, clear, fall day of 74-degrees…yet my screen says, “Air Quality Alert in effect until 6:15pm”. Seriously? This is total BS. It couldn’t be a nicer day if it tried.

It’s All About Control…and Ratings

I think as far as the more tepid Weather Gospel preached by local Weather Stations, its simply all about the ratings. Big drama means big audiences…or so they hope. When it comes to the larger entities encouraging you to “stay inside” while they try to cram climate change down your throat, it’s more about control. Today is a gorgeous fall day. Nobody is going to try to stay inside. What agenda are they really trying to push here?

I think there are a lot of smart choices Americans can make about power, climate, and waste. However, making them simply at the behest of politically motivated parties and corporations that do not educate the consumers properly, and blatantly lie about all the factors involved, is dangerous.

Gateway Programming

If someone told you 20 or 30 years ago that farting cows were going to cause the polar ice caps to melt, you would have called them crazy and had them locked away. No amount of data you can manufacture will convince any sane person that this is a problem. If, after listening to the Weather Gospel for two decades, you have allowed yourself into the Climate Change camp and you actually believe this nonsense, then you are advocating and supporting this stupidity.

Today’s younger generations have grown up with this stuff their whole lives, so of course they believe it! Again, that’s not to say we can’t make improvements, but these climate change wackos are cut from the same cloth the anti-nuclear folks were. Imagine how much better off we would be if we had been using nuclear power for these last 3 decades? We would have likely improved our battery and solar technology much sooner, and we would have burned far less fossil fuels, and not be economically dependent on the Middle East.

The Green Scam folks that have been pushing electric vehicles and artificial intelligence, are starting to realize that it’s going to require nuclear energy to power and cool all these servers for AI and run the power plants to send you electricity for those EVs. Suddenly now, it’s just fine to implement nuclear power again, only because it fits their agenda. For the record, I like electric vehicles, and I talk about that here, and I use A.I. every day. Both of these are not without costs and ramifications of their own, and neither is a magic solution to “climate change”.

The Weather Gospel Follows a Common Pattern

When a person is introduced to a concept, and throughout their life that concept is drummed into them from multiple fronts, it is likely that person will believe it to be the truth. The extreme left does it with Climate Change. The Shiite Muslims do it with their young very early, teaching almost at birth to kill the Great Satan (America) and the Little Satan (Israel).

As baby boomers, we had it drummed into us that we needed 3 square meals a day. Remember the food period and all that? Today, we realize that might not have been the smartest pattern to follow, but since it was so engrained in our minds, it’s tough to think otherwise. We were taught to work hard every single day, putting it almost above everything else, sickness be damned. We know now that really isn’t always the best thing either.

The climate change activists want to indoctrinate you at an early age. The do it through youth educational programs and pushing climate change books, education, conferences and more. They also do it all day long via local and national weather television programming. I call it the Weather Gospel.
